This April, Atla research tools added titles on numerous topics in five languages from eight countries.
In Atla Religion Database
- 종교와 문화 (Religion and Culture), published by 서울대학교 종교문제연구소 [Seoul National University Religious Studies Institute], seeks to motivate academic research into the various phenomena and functions of religion and culture and to extend interest in the field. The periodical was founded in 1995 in response to wide demand in religious and academic circles for a professional academic journal on religious issues.
- Ḥakirah: The Flatbush Journal of Jewish Law and Thought, published by Ḥakira, Inc., has made it its purpose to promote the intellectual and spiritual growth of the Jewish community. To accomplish this, Hakirah provides an opportunity for members of our community who have been studying in-depth to disseminate the results of their study for careful review, and encourage others to join in this type of study. It creates a forum for the discussion of issues of hashkafah and halakhah relevant to the community from a perspective of careful analysis of the primary Torah sources.
- Journal of Ethnology and Folkloristics, published by Eesti Rahva Muuseum, Eesti Kirjandusmuuseum, Tartu Ülikool, is a multidisciplinary forum for scholars. Addressed to an international scholarly audience, JEF is open to contributions from researchers all over the world. JEF publishes articles in the research areas of ethnology, folkloristics, museology, and cultural and social anthropology. It includes both studies focused on the empirical analysis of particular cases as well as those more theoretically oriented.
- Jerusalem Studies in Arabic and Islam, published by Ḳeren Maḳs Shlesinge (Max Schloessinger Memorial Foundation), is a peer-reviewed, international journal devoted to the study of classical Islam, Islamic religious thought, Arabic language and literature, the origins of Islamic institutions, and the interaction between Islam and other civilizations. The journal is an annual, though at times two volumes are published in the same year. The average size of a volume is 400-500 pages. The journal enjoys a high reputation and applies rigorous standards of acceptance.
- Kierkegaard Studies Yearbook, published by De Gruyter, has served as the authoritative periodical in the field. Since 2011, the Kierkegaard Studies Yearbook has been a peer-reviewed yearbook open to submissions by all Kierkegaard scholars. The goal of the Yearbook is to advance Kierkegaard studies by encouraging top-level scholarship in the field. The editorial and advisory boards are deeply committed to creating a genuinely international forum for publication that integrates the many different traditions of Kierkegaard studies and brings them into a constructive and fruitful dialogue.
- La Scuola Cattolica, published by Ancore Editrice, is a quarterly academic journal of theology. It was established in 1873 and still remains in publication today. The journal embraces all areas of theology (dogmatic, fundamental, biblical, moral) as well as other types of religious studies (philosophical, historical, social, and psychological). It is primarily written by teachers and researchers of the Seminary of Milan.
- The Journal of East Asian Philosophy, published by Springer, has an aim that is fourfold. First, it examines the reception of and confrontations with Western philosophy in East Asia. Secondly, it promotes the dialogue between various philosophical discourses and traditions in East Asia. Thirdly, it explores the potential of East Asian philosophy comprehensively. Fourthly, it attempts to articulate the history of East Asian philosophy. All time periods, themes, figures, texts, traditions, and so on within and without East Asian philosophical contexts are welcome.
- Praktische Theologie: Zeitschrift für Praxis in Kirche, Gesellschaft und Kultur, published by De Gruyter, is a journal for theological practitioners wishing to reflect their professional domains, such as pastoral ministry, professional training, school, adult education, the social realm, and others, on a scholarly basis. It covers current topics in the area of religion and society, specific challenges within the professional domains named above, and topics from the fields of human and social science relevant for competent professional practice.
In Atlas Plus
- International Journal for Philosophy of Religion, published by Springer, provides a medium for the exposition, development, and criticism of important philosophical insights and theories relevant to religion in any of its varied forms. It also provides a forum for critical, constructive, and interpretative consideration of religion from an objective philosophical point of view. IJPR presents articles, symposia, discussions, reviews, notes, and news, serving the interests of a wide range of thoughtful readers, especially teachers and students of philosophy, philosophical theology, and religious thought.
- Review of Religious Research, published by Springer on behalf of the Religious Research Association, seeks to provide a regular channel for the exchange of information on methods, findings, and uses of religious research. It contains a variety of articles, book reviews, and reports on research projects. The Review focuses on sociological research, reflection, and reviews, but also publishes work done in the other social sciences. Among the characteristics which distinguish the Religious Research Association from other academic associations are its applied focus and the opportunities it offers for academics and denomination-based researchers to share their findings with each other.
